Little Loo turns 2!!
I cannot believe that 2 years ago my little girl was born. She really has been my saving grace. I love watching her grow and learn and this past year has been so entertaining. It has also been very challenging. She is growing into a little person rather than a baby. I know how to parent a baby but a toddler? I feel lost almost everyday. Luckily she is a giver of grace unconditionally. For her birthday we went to the children's museum and had a blast! We decided not to have a party since we don't really know many people yet. Lindsey had so much fun! We ended the day at church and opening presents with her Grandma and aunt from Ohio. And who could forget cake?

A Little This A Little That
Since Lindsey has been born there has not been one stage I have been anxious to get through. I didnt mind being up every three hours nursing, I didnt mind her having days and nights confused and I loved her starting to talk. I never pushed her to crawl, walk, roll, sleep through the night, etc. However, I am SO OVER this teething nonsense. AH! It hits like a tidal wave and suddenly shes up all night and doesnt want to eat.
I posted all about how I survive teething here but I have to say, I have stopped using the Hylands teething tablets after seeing them being recalled for causing seizures. Scary! We have been up all night for the past 4 nights, and lets just say this momma is tired! I am soo thankful for my family. My mom has been really great and getting up with her in the wee hours so I can get in a quick 2 hours and my grandma has been watching her in the afternoon so I can take a cat nap. I dont know what I would do without them especially since I am in summer school.

She is super precious though and I wouldnt trade her for anything. Even a full 6 hours of sleep.
In other news: our family bought a new Toyota Rav 4!! Yay us!! We traded in my moms truck for this baby. Itll be so great when we get to NC and have to drive in snow.
I have been wanting a quick an delicious lunch and egg salad has been first on my mind. This version has no mayonnaise and I skipped the bread and used pretzel chips instead. Delish and healthy and completely Dukan!
Healthy Egg Salad
Serves 4
- 8 hardboiled eggs
- 3 TBSP plain non fat greek yogurt
- 1 TBSP spicy brown mustard
- Salt and pepper
- dash of paprika
I throw the eggs in a pot and cover with water. I then add a dash of salt, this will tell me if there are any bad eggs because they will float to the top. Then I stick them on the stove and crank the heat to high. I set the timer for 20 minutes and leave them alone. Once they are done, I run them under cold water and stick them in the fridge to cool. Once cooled, I peel them all, slice them in half and place them in a large bowl. I add the yogurt, mustard and spices and adjust accordingly. Remember, you can always add more but cannot take out! Then I dig in with a handful of pretzel chips! Yuuummm :)
I leave you with this thought: You will never know what God can do in your life unless you give him the chance to lead it.

Happy Birthday!
My best friend Brooke celebrated her 23rd birthday this week! A group of us girls plus the baby went out to dinner then after i dropped off the baby out for drinks. We has so much fun :) Me and Brooke have been friends for a few years now and she is such an awesome person. Our friendship is so hard to even describe. We connect on a different level than many people and our friendship is so strong. She loves life and is beginning to love God as well. She comes every week to my house with a few other girls for bible study and I really can see the word of God just breathing life into her. Its an amazing sight and I am so excited for her!
Lindsey just ADORES her auntie brooke :)
Some of my very best friends. I will so heart broken to say goodbye to them.

Children's Museum Day
My friend Tara invited me and baby Lindsey to the Children's Museum last week with her friend and her friend's baby. The Children's Museum is an awesome place for kids 6months and up! It is filled with educational rooms that teach science and allow kids to explore all different things. We took Lindsey last October but at only 8 months she couldnt quite enjoy it as much as she did this time. The pictures will speak for themselves :)
She must have thought it was real food :)
Not too happy to share her throne ;)
Me and my little muffin
Overall it was such a fun day! If you live in the Tucson area, I highly suggest going! We will definitely be making one more trip before our big move this August to North Carolina :)

15 Months
I cannot believe how fast time is flying! I know I say that every time I post an update on Lindsey but it is so true. I blink and shes doing something new. At her 15 month check up the doctor said she was off the charts developmentally. She says more words, has more teeth, weighs more, and is taller than babies her age. Already an over achiever :)
Trying cotton candy for the first time
First time swimming in a big pool
These were on two separate occasions. She plays herself to sleep :)
This month:
- finally started sleeping through the nigh
- got an awful cold
- swam in a big pool for the first time and hated every minute of it
- tried cotton candy
- gave up the bottle
- says: look, mama, jack, hot, caca, ayiyi, up, dog, cat, max, uh oh, duck, hi and bye
- knows where her hair, nose, eyes, tummy, big mouth, and feet are
- can do the moves to itsy bitsy spider (she loves playing that with grammy)
- practically runs
- started self feeding
- loves pasta, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, grilled cheese, bananas
- is 26 lbs and 31.5 inches
- does a "monster" face
- can climb up on furniture
- loves flipping through magazines
Oh my sweet girl, how I love watching you grow. You amaze me every day. I love you more than there are stars in the sky and always will <3

Making Teething Tolerable
If you have a little one, you are fully aware of the ins and outs of teething. If you are one of those lucky mom's who's babies popped out teeth without so much as wincing, I envy you. Lindsey has had every effect from teething I could imagine. She's had terrible diaper rash, lack of appetite, poor sleeping, fever, constipation, diarrhea, ear infections. You name it, she had it. Her teething began at about 5 or 6 months and wont end until all those teeth have popped through. She got her first 2 bottom teeth at around 7 months and has been popping them in 2 at a time ever since. We are now working on getting numbers 11 & 12 to break through. It has been a lot of sleeplessness and cranky baby but I have compiled a list of items that has helped make the process at least tolerable. I hope it helps!
These things are so amazing I do not know how I lived without them. They instantly dissolve under the baby's tongue and provide immediate relief. The part I absolutely love is that they are homeopathic! There are no funky ingredients that could potentially harm the baby.
I am so glad another mommy introduced me to these little babies. They are perfect for teething! If your little one has not been introduced to solids yet, sticking an ice cube in there and letting the baby gnaw on it feels so good on their soon to be teeth. If you have introduced solids, feel free to freeze any fruit and put it in there. Lindsey loves frozen peaches and bananas the best. The mesh part is the feature I really love. I gave Lindsey these before she could have finger foods and the mesh prevents any seeds or chunks from getting through.
I use tylenol very sparingly. If Lindsey has a fever I will give her a small dose and it generally goes away in an hour. Also, for the nights she is just so unbelievably miserable I will give her a bit to ease her discomfort and pain. The teething tablets are great, but using the tylenol with them make for a comfortable baby that will actually sleep. And who doesnt want that?
Frozen Washcloths
Wet a soft washcloth and put it either in the fridge or freezer for a while to get nice and cold. The baby can hold it and just go to town. The cool cloth can really help their inflamed gums.
Cold Spoon
I used to sit Lindsey on my lap with 2 baby spoons and a glass of ice water. I would let the spoons soak and she would bite on them until they were not cold any more. Make sure to use soft tipped baby spoons, not metal grown up spoons.
I was so skeptical when I got this as a baby shower gift. I actually forgot I had it until I was cleaning the baby room and opened it right away. This little baby has two sides ideal for teething. One is a cool gel and the other is a harder surface that vibrates. Lindsey absolutely loves this. She will sit for minutes and just attack it. The vibration and cool surface help relieve swelling and discomfort. The size is also perfect for little baby hands.
Teething Toys
Having a plethora of toys Lindsey ccan chew on is a definite must! During teething, she is constantly sticking everything she can in her mouth so its necessary to have baby friendly toys around. I strongly suggest against putting any of them in the freezer. They could pop as your baby goes to chew on them and all that gel would go everywhere, like in the babies mouth. The fridge gets them nice and cold and is very safe. I would recommend washing them every week or so depending on how much they are used. From being on the floor to the baby's mouth, its always nice to have them sanitized.
I use this as a diaper rash ointment religiously. It leaves no yucky residue and soothes the baby's bottom immediately. It also heals the rash overnight in some cases. I really cannot say enough good things about this ointment. I have tried desitin, buttpaste and countless others but continuously return to this. Try it and you will know why.
Pinot Grigio
This is for the mommas. After a rough day of teething, pour yourself a glass of wine, say a prayer and get to bed! That little one will be up in an hour is they are anything like mine.
Well I hope this has helped all you mommas out there! Just know it will pass and you will get through it! Also I STRONGLY advise against using numbing gel. I have heard so many horror stories of the gel numbing the throat and the gag refluxes causing the baby to choke and not be able to swallow. I have never used it and will never use it because that scares me to death! Be watchful of them pulling at their hair or ears. It may mean an ear infection if a fever accompanies. Lindsey was pulling incessantly at her hair so I took her her in to get it checked. It was nothing so I did some research and the nerves of the jaw and gums are connected to the ear. That will cause discomfort and they will pull. Good luck :)
